Hello from Your Lake Jennings: The Summer doldrums continues to frustrate us and our anglers. The bite for cats got worse even though there was 1000 lbs of cats were planted Friday morning. Sunday morning around 8:30 there was a decent bite back in Hermit Cove but only if you had crawlers. The bass continue to be difficult and if topwater is your thing fugetaboutit. Fishing deep or trolling leadcore. This should change when we start dropping the water level. That gets the crawdads on the move and creature baits will work better.

Best Cat Spots: Hermit Cove and Hermit Cove.
Best Cat Bait: Night crawlers. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: Sentry Cove on the troll or on the points with 4" worms or jigs.
Best Bass Lures /bait: # 7 shad rap at 50 ft..

Water Temp. Still 78 to 79 degrees on surface.

Notables: Sat., Dan Heiser, El Cajon, 10-6 channel cat, mackerel, main buoyline.

Prognosis: Remember that we do not open until 5 PM on Friday. The nights are still beautiful and maybe a catfish dinner is in your future. We are down to our last month of night fishing. We predict an uptick in the bite as the full moon wanes.

The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching cat fishing......
